Popularly known for their contributions to the oil industry rather than their tourism, Kuwait is one of those countries that tend to go fly under the radar of tourists but it's a phenomenal country to explore.

Its capital Kuwait City is the center of all major activities happening in the country and it is the best place to be for anyone looking for the best Kuwaiti experience. The city and country as a whole have now moved on from the days of conflict, to become a great tourist destination. It is very important to note that Kuwait has some rules that need to be followed, so its better to do some research before visiting.

  • Kuwait Towers

    The city’s top attraction is the Kuwait towers that were designed by Danish architect Malene Bjorn. The towers were inaugurated on 1979 but closed down for maintenance from 2012 to 2018. They are a group of three slender buildings of 614ft (187.15 m) high and you can find inside the towers the famous Horizon Restaurant if you want a taste of the local delicacies.

  • Grand Mosque

    The Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in Kuwait and the 8th largest mosque in the world. The mosque was built in 1986 with the main prayer hall spanning about 236ft (71.93 meters). Free tours are offered to visitors except on Fridays and Saturdays.

  • The Avenues Mall

    Located in the Rai area, the Avenues Mall is the second largest mall in Middle east and the largest mall in Kuwait. It opened in April 2007 and has gone on to win the ICSC Gold Award for “Best Shopping Center” in 2013.  The enormous shopping mall is divided into themed districts to make navigation through the mall easier for visitors. There is a plethora of stores found inside The Avenues Mall and also restaurants serving international and local cuisines.

  • Take A Stroll

    Visit the Al Shaheed park which has beautiful botanical gardens cafes and restaurants. Tourist can also walk down to the Kuwait Corniche, the city’s waterfront. Parks are the best places to meet locals and immerse yourself in the Kuwaiti culture.

  • Mirror House

    This house completely covered with mosaic it is owned by Italian born Sculptor Lidia al-Qattan, who is married to Kuwaiti artist Khalifa al-Qattan. According to Lidia al-Qattan she started designing the house when her husband traveled for an exhibition abroad, she got lonely and decided to decorate one of their cabinets with broken pieces of mirrors. On her husband’s return he liked them and encouraged her to continue, which pushed her to eventually cover the entire house with mirror mosaics. The entire work on the house started in 1966 and ended in 2006.
